One of our favorite seasons in Minnesota is fall. When we left for the west coast over the summer, we were afraid we'd miss seeing the colors as we ventured further south down the California coast. Our stay in Paso Robles was beautiful - weather, colors...oh, and the wine! The colors of these Blaufrankisch vines at Wild Horse Winery were amazing. The wine was pretty awesome too!

I'm fascinated by the Grand Canyon's scale, have hiked into it several times, including Rim to Rim. It wasn't until a few years ago that I first visited Hawaii and heard about Waimea Canyon, or as it's commonly known, "Grand Canyon of the Pacific". So when Nancy and I had a chance to visit the islands, we made sure to come to Kauai to see and hike down into it. Although there were many similarities, it's on a much smaller scale and the vegetation was incredible! The hike to the bottom and back up was one of the most challenging we've ever done. Temperature was 90+, with mid 90's humidity, and 3000+ feet elevation change within 2.5 miles. Now that we've finished the hike, glad to say we did it.
